November 1: Destination: Bodkins Point

We decided on a twilight departure from the Baltimore Marine Center at 4PM - a bit later than our usual time to set sail. With darkness settling in, we had hoped to primarily motor for 2 hours out to Bodkins Creek. However, navigating in complete darkness proved to be more taxing than originally expected -- as we tried to find buoy markers, navigate around crabpots, keep our depth over 4 feet and attempt to locate daymarkers (there is a reason why these are called DAYmarkers....cuz you cannot see them at night!). Yet, somehow, we managed to find the entrance to Bodkins Creek, which is located just east of Bodkins Point. Bodkins Point is at the southern mouth of the Patapsco River. Bodkins Creek proved to be a perfect cove, as we anchored around 7:30PM.

November 2: Destination: Whitehall Bay

We awoke to an unusally calm, and warm November day - with limited visibility due to the morning fog. Motoring out of the cove in Bodkins Creek was far less stressful in the daylight hours - where you could actually SEE where you were going. We motored south on the Chesapeake Bay - wondering if we would get ANY wind. As we neared the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (Route 50), we were greeted by 10+ knot winds, and we immediately set sail. Our destination was to be either Annapolis or Whitehall Bay - just north of Annapolis. Deciding that it might be too difficult (too popular) to anchor off of Annapolis - we headed toward Whitehall Bay, and found a beautiful notch / cove near the northern entrance that was suitable for anchorage. We debated the idea of taking our dinghy to shore...but decided against it based on all of the no trespassing signs plastered to every tree. I guess the landowner had a message to convey.

November 3: Destination: Baltimore

Light winds at night turned to calm skies in the early AM. We left our little nook on Whitehall Bay around 8AM, to be greeted by 10 knot northerly winds. We immediately set sail toward the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. A Carnival Cruise ship passed us by. It was another unseasonable November day - with temperatures into the 80's.
