October 30, 2004. City of Baltimore, MD features StormTRAK during it's annual SNOW EXPO.
With 2000 miles of roadways, the City of Baltimore installs StormTRAK to manage storm event costs. StormTRAK debuts during Snow Expo. 400 drivers, and nearly 100 administrative and management staff participated in Baltimore's annual Snow Expo - to showcase new equipment, and perform a dry run of the newly installed StormTRAK Storm Operations Management software. While the drivers became re-acquainted with their routes, the management and administrative staff operated the SnoTrak software - and quickly captured costs for attendance, vehicles, salt loads and roadway passes. The event was a huge success - and management was thrilled with how quickly the staff (who had only "just" seen the system for the first time in the prior week) had learned the system.

District of Columbia uses bar-codes to track salt usage from domes.
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is the lead agency for snow removal. DDOT works closely with the Department of Public Works (DPW) to clear snow and ice from District roadways and bridges. Together, DDOT and DPW clear and make safe approximately 1,100 roadway miles, and have the authority to declare and enforce snow emergencies.
To better track the loads of abrasives removed from salt / sand domes, DC implemented a bar-code technology that was installed on each of the vehicles. Thus, when the vehicle arrives for a pick-up, the vehicle information is scanned using a Psion hand-held device. This information is then batch uploaded to the SnoTrak database at the end of each shift.
